I have gtx 770 atm and as above I am planning to either upgrade to 980 or 1080 (not sure which one yet). I have 4770k cpu with 16gb of ram, just wondering if this will cause a bottleneck to either gpu's.

I have a 980 and it's overkill for 1080p, but if you want 1440p or 4k a 1080 would be a better choice. If you plan on playing games with high texture mods, then wait for a 1070 and get one, but don't get a 980 unless you get it for less than 300, because the 1070 will be 350 a month after the aftermarket versions come out.

He said he hasn't decided which card to pick yet so I was giving him information about the cards, seeing as I own a 980. And I didn't need to restate that a 4770k would handle any of those graphics cards because you already said it. Yes, he could SLI 2 of any of those cards and still be fine on a 4770k, but that's not my point. I was trying to help him decide what card to get. Because if his monitor is only 1080p, he would be wasting money on anything more powerful than a 980. So the real question is what don't you get?

lol?
