Hello, first ever post here, I've basically used this as the go to place for everything pc related this last year and thought instead of making all my usual colossus expensive mistakes i'll try asking for first hand help!

My current PC set up,

CX750
FX 8350
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
R9 290x

I've got an i7-6700 from a friend and would like to make the change, my mobo has developed a high pitch dog whistle sound and it's driving me insane, so I thought having this cpu would be a great excuse to rebuild my pc.

My knowledge is very stunted, I know to use this i'll need a mobo, ram and windows, I guess I'd love some advice on what I should be aiming for, also compatibility of my gpu is that still fine and is my psu enough?

I've looked at ASUS Z170 PRO and ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO, I've found them with in £20 of each other but don't know their merits and which would be right for me, welcome to any other suggestions around the same price.

Then there's ram, I don't know what I'm searching for other then it has to be ddr4, i could do with keeping this under or around the £100 mark.

I'm using this machine to play a lot of games, plan to stream some tournaments but also I do a lot of video editing away from the gaming, it's pretty much on all day everyday for work and play.

Advice would be greatly appreciated
