I have an AMD FX-6300 Processor and am looking to upgrade the fan for better cooling while gaming.
Should I spend the extra money and get the H55 or will the 212 EVO be good enough?

Solution
212 evo is good enough. they will end up performing similar to each other, why spend more? the best cooler under 50 bucks is the cryorig H5.

though the 212 evo is good, I recommend the Cryorig H7 over the 212 evo. it is quieter than he 212 evo and cools slightly better if not same. buy off amazon or newegg or contact cryorig directly

The Hyper 212 is a good cooler, you will only get slightly better and more stable temps with the H55.

The hyper 212 also has the advantage in that it blows a lot of air over the Voltage regulation modules near the CPU, something FX builds have a tough time dealing with (especially when overclocked).

Used coolers really don't sell much lower than. New ones do. They don't wear out like PSUs or motherboard do. I mean refurb is a great idea for coolers. I mean if you don't needed why put so much money? Even the stock cooler can handle stock speeds on gaming fine. Even light overclocks.

I wouldn't bother with the H55. As others have said, you'll get better performance from a 212 Evo, Noctua, Cryorig. Had a 212 Evo myself, they're brilliant. Upgraded to a H75 as I damaged the fins when I was cleaning my PC and wanted to try it out. I get around a good 10-12c lower than I did before, I love it. But for the price, you can't beat the 212 or the other air coolers mentioned
