I connected my sata cables from my Mobo into my hard drive,ssd, and optical drive. Which data ports do i connect the other ends. My GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-UD3 motherboard has sata six 6gb ports, three sata express ports, and 2 m.2 socket three connectors. Which ports should I use? Also for the other cables that plugs into the drives, there are headers that lie up upon different locations on that cable. Do i plug one of them in only and then use a different cable with all those headers, or can i just use that cables headers for like two of my drives.

ssd=0 hard drive 1 cd rom 2.
leave the hard drive cable unplugged till you install windows. it make your life easer as windows will only see one install drive. you have to use disk management to set the hard drive up in 10 when you plug the cable in.
for sata ports on the mb. there numbers 0-xxx. put the ssd on 0 the hard drive on 1 and the cd rom on 2. the only time you have to worrie about the sata port numbers if your using a sat express ssd or card or m2. using one of those cards may turn off one of the onboard sata ports. the mb user guild will tell you. for sata port you can use same cable that has two or more power ports. most time people use one for the hard drive and ssd if it reaches. you dont want to much force on the ports or they will snap off. most time people use one 4 pin long molex plug and use a molex to sata port adaptor for the cd rom.
