New 3ds replaces Old 3ds?

Hi guys! I know technically the new 3ds isn't a new system, but rather a revision on the original 3ds. Since it's a little bit more I thought I'd stick with buying the cheaper original, even if I miss the titles released exclusively for the new revision.

However this got me wondering- will Nintendo eventually move to releasing games ONLY for the new revision? This would basically make the older version obsolete, so if that's the case I'd rather just spend a little bit more for the newer one and be okay. I've looked around but haven't managed to find anything definite? Any help would be appreciated!

Also, will they ever release a new 2ds? I love the form factor for the 2ds and wouldn't use the 3d mode much, but would still like access to the new exclusive titles.

Given that the new 3DS still holds the same name, I would assume that Nintendo will not start releasing titles exclusively for it. Also, I think the charm in most of Nintendo's devices is the simplistic graphics so I doubt most games would need the extra power. I think there is still a wide range of titles available for the 2DS and 3DS to justify going for the original 3DS though.

When you said you like the form factor of the 2DS, are you talking about the big 2DS or the DS lite? I found that the 2DS is incredibly bulky and a bit of a let-down in their offerings. Most kids these days just end up getting a 3DS anyway. I would believe that they would be reluctant to offer a 2DS able to play these new games so that they can kill it off...

Awesome! I figured as much but thought I'd get some advice to be sure xD I appreciate it!

And yes hahaha the 2ds IS pretty bulky so you lose a lot in the portability dept. Where it stood out for me was just the feel in hand- I like that the controls are situated in the middle, so it's balanced and not nearly as top heavy as the xl or new xl. A few years back when I got my first xl my hands would start to cramp up from long play sessions in monster hunter (fingers moving all over the place rapidly!) while trying to support the weight of the system as well. I always kept my 3ds in a carry case too, so the easy portability loss wouldn't be an issue for me. And with me never using the 3d it just seemed all around better for my needs.
