So my internet has been borked on home PC for months. I've tried every deep fix I can, to no avail.

Basics: wireless, Comcast, Win7. Can ping via cmd, but browsing is broken. I get very slight connectivity, and if I reboot it gets better for about 30 seconds, then back to nothing. Most pages time out. Speedtest gives me 0mbps down, 10mbps up (???).
Signal strength is strong. All other wifi devices ( 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, Mac laptop, PC win 7 tablet, PS3 ) all connect fine, simultaneously, and in the same room (so I know it's not wifi signal loss).

When I have my PC downstairs (by the modem), I tried a wired connection and it worked. This is all wireless problems, somehow.

I've tried:

*flushdns
*reset windsock
*conflicting Nvidia drivers
*a new USB wifi dongle

I'm tearing my hair out here. This has rendered my PC useless to my wife and I, and it's our main business machine.

Please assist if you can. Let me know what details you need and I can provide them.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a firewall setting problem make sure the wireless adapter is set for the correct area. I forget the exact one but if you have it set wrong it will not allow pretty much anything. I disabled the windows firewalls long ago so I forget what the setting are.

Ok. How would I check to make sure the adapter is set to the correct area? I've been through the settings in every way possible but I can't find a solution.

How would I go about disabling Windows firewall?

Sorry, I misread your question. One thing that has happened to me is wifi interference, it'll be fine one minute and then not working at all the next. Have you checked nearby Wifi's to make sure they are on other channels?

Any further information in solving this?

I keep *almost* solving it and it's driving me batty. Absolutely batty. I'm about ready to buy a new computer.

I finally checked under Windows Firewall and it was set to block all Firefox activity. And I thought, this solves it! The internet suddenly worked perfectly.

For a day. One. Day. Then the problem came right back.

I have tried literally everything I can think of, anyone have any suggestions? I have had no internet connectivity on my PC for over a year.
