So i have seen some of the pro's suggest ops use driver booster to update pc's drivers, something i always thought to be wrong as they only offer generic drivers and not the makers drivers that are tweaked for their configuration.
So i thought seeing as even some mods suggest it, i would install it and see what it says about my drivers, found 18 drivers that are supposebly extremely old, I have all the latest drivers for my parts from asus etc
and the thing is some that have used it seem to be having driver issues
What do you all think about these apps
I do realise there would be times where makers drivers are not available for download and this may help then, like chinese boards, old parts etc

Driver updater programs are problematic. I had several of em in the past and they all caused problems. Let the OS update. Go to individual sites like AMD Intel, etc. and your oem if you have one. If it ain't broke don't fix it applies to drivers.
W.P.

Windows update gets most drivers which maybe old but at least they are more than windows basic. I never heard of any generic drivers. Windows already has basic drivers and there is no other driver other than from oem that should be out there besides some custom gpu drivers that are rare. Otherwise it doesn't take long to get drivers from oem sites. There is no point in these driver finder software. Show me a post where a mod suggested it. They need some talking to.

i deal with alot of outdated hardware users. i ussualy do the searching manually by googling the "HardwareID" value in the unknown driver properties. from there it's trial and error.
but be careful while downloading the results from google, some websites is evil (usually i sandbox the browser and do an online scan if i get suspicious about the file im about to download).
