Paying for 100mbps but only getting a maxium of 22mbps when nobody is home

Hi I am paying for up to 100mbps and the best that I have ever seen it at was like 22-24 mbps and upload i have never seen go above 2. I want to know why my internet speeds are so slow I just recently got a AC1900 Nighthawk router and nothing has really changed and when people are on it the download speed can get to 2 down and below 1 up please this has been happening for years now I just now realized it.

Cameron, this is problem with the company's infrastructure. They advertise you will get 100mbps but if they only have 1000mb capacity and they have 20 people paying for 100mbps then you will only get a maximum of 50mbps. So right now they are overbooked, call the company and tell them that they are falsely advertising their product. With any luck, they will give your home the priority on that fiber line.

It is not a problem with your router, it shouldn't be a problem with your router. I had a AC1900 Nighthawk as well and it was fantastic for my home. Never had a problem with it until water was accidently poured on it.

yeah all of those isp advertises using "up to" speed, so they're legally correct. most likely it's like what LogicalProcessing said, congestion since the bandwidth is shared to other users in your area.

so are you saying maybe go with a less main stream company for internet because rn I have time warner cable
