Ok, I've asked this a few times on this forum, but I have changed my mind on a few things and updated prices. Is this a good build, and can I make it any cheaper? This includes all fans, cables etc. I'll be buying from MSY in Australia, as it's close and the cheapest. Prices in $AUD.

Mobo: Gigabyte H170-HD3 $156
PSU: Antec EDGE 80+ Gold Full Modular 650w $159
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce Gtx 560 Ti (Friend giving to me) $0
GPU (If Friend's one is insufficient): 4G R9-380 MSI GAMING $319
CPU: 1151 Pin Intel i5-6500 @ 3.2GHz $274
RAM: 16G Kit (8Gx2) 2133 G.Skill Ripjaws-V $100
HDD: WD Blue 1 TB 7200rpm WD10EZEX $68
SSD: SanDisk PLUS 120G $55
DVD Drive: ASUS DRW-24D3ST Black 24x DVD-RW Writer (OEM) (If another friend cant give one) $17
Keyboard: Corsair Gaming STRAFE RGB Cherry MX Brown $182
Case: Corsair Carbide USB 3.0 SPEC-03 $79
Wireless Card: TP-Link Archer T6E AC1300 $69
Monitor: 24" 2ms Samsung S24D300HS $159
Antivirus: Kaspersky TOTAL SECURITY OEM 1 Device 1 Year (with CD) $12
Thermal Paste: Thermal Compound Noctua NT-H1 $11
HDMI Cable: Partlist HDMI-HDMI Flat 2Meter $4
SATA Cable: 1M SATA 3.0 Data Cable Cablelist $3 x2
Cable Ties: Partlist 15cm Cable Tie 50pcs $1
Antistatic Wristband: Partlist Cordless Anti-Static Wrist ESD discharge Band $3
LED Case Lighting: Thermaltake AC0032 Red Lumi Ccolour 12 LED Strip (Red) $6
USB Extension Cable:Cablelist CL-U3AMAF2M 2 Meter USB3 Externsion AM-AF Cable $6 x2
Case Fans: DeepCool 120mm LED case fan Red XFAN120 $8 x2

Total: $1710 (W/O R9 = $1391) on 15/5/16

Will the power supply last for a long time including upgrades (and maybe a dual-way CrossFire because my friend that's giving me the 560Ti is upgrading in Christmas for a GTx 1080, and he might give me his R9-290x. I might give one of MY friends my 380 if the 290x is better and my PSU can't power 2 GPUs.

Building at the start of the school holidays / my birthday, so GPU prices might drop on the Nvidia end because of the 1080, so I might go with Nvidia if they're cheaper.
1920x1080 monitor, high / maxed out at 60fps, overclocking isn't necessary (only if I get an increase on performance by a big amount) but will overclock GPU. Case must have side window and at least 4 fan slots as Australia gets hot in summer, but don't need the fans now.
I'm upgrading because I currently play on a laptop with a GT 745 M, which can hardly hit 60fps at 1366x768 in Team Fortress 2.

Thanks,

Are these really necessary for a budget build?

DVD Drive: ASUS DRW-24D3ST Black 24x DVD-RW Writer (OEM) (If Tony cant give 1) $17
Wireless Card: TP-Link Archer T6E AC1300 $69
Antivirus: Kaspersky TOTAL SECURITY OEM 1 Device 1 Year (with CD) $12
Thermal Paste: Thermal Compound Noctua NT-H1 $11
LED Case Lighting: Thermaltake AC0032 Red Lumi Ccolour 12 LED Strip (Red) $6

And I would look into these 2:

PSU: Antec EDGE 80+ Gold Full Modular 650w $159

Pick the EVGA G2 or GS 650W instead if you are going R9-380. The card's minimum is 550W, plus you have case fans. I would trade all of the stuff above for a better PSU.

The 290x takes ~100W more than the 380. You may want a 750W model...

Hold on to buying 16 Gb and go for 8 Gb.

My logic is that since you are only going to run 4G R9-380, you are not going to play 1440 or Ultra anyway. In this case for 1080 High setting 8 Gb ram is suffice for another 2 years.

The build looks pretty solid in my opinion. However if it was me, I would probably reconsider the Keyboard, and use some more money on the GPU. Perhaps a GTX970 or a R9 390, since the prices are likely to drop soon. 560ti is really not enough if you want to run the latest games with good framerates, but you could use it while you save up for a better card.

Also if you plan to do Crossfire with 2 R9's, you should definitely get a bigger PSU, since one R9 380 alone pulls around 200 Watt. The 290x or 390 pulls even more. Btw, just to be totally clear you can't use NVIDIA and AMD cards in a SLI/Crossfire combo. SLI requires 2 similar cards from NVIDIA plus a SLI-bridge, and Crossfire requires 2 AMD cards from the same family (i.e R9).

Also, you dont really need to factor in stuff like thermalpaste, and probably not Sata cables. Paste is included in the stock heatsink, and SATA cables is usually included with the case. Antistatic wristband is also not really necesarry, you can ground yourself by touching the case or some metal every few minutes... Use the $ for a better card if possible!
