Water Cooler needed to upgrade my Cooler Master 212 Evo!!!!! OVERCLOCKING

Chances are your 4690k will hit an overclocking wall from voltage before thermals. Huge water coolers really aren't necessary unless you're just getting them for the looks. The kraken x61 is a 280mm rad aio, it's pretty good. The corsair's h110 is also a 280mm, and it's good. The corsair h100i or h105 are both good 240mm aios. If you are willing to spend about 60 euros more, the swifttech h220x Is a very good choice that will also let you expand to watercooling your GPU as well, if you're so inclined.

Thanks for the suggestions, but are they reliable (do not wish for spillage or leakage)? And what is the performance when compared to each others (temps)?

^^^In addition to the Krakenx61 or H110 another one to consider is the Cryorig A80 as its similar to most AIO water coolers but it also has a fan located over the pump to help cool the MB as well.

Corsair makes good AIO cooler systems. I've had no issues with my H100i and you rarely hear about leakage on AIO units. If anything the pump breaks and the water stops circulating causing higher temps but even that isn't very common.

and make I know what AIO stands for or what it is? sorry for lack of knowledge

AIO=All in One. The temps on my system (H100i) are around 28C idle and around 63C load with a OC of 4.2ghz. I did post a review of that Cryorig A80 and it does perform excellent under high loads (max 75C load in Prime95 @4.7ghz).

If I had a choice between the H100i GTX, Kraken X61 and the Cryorig A80 I would go with the A80.
 


You're better off getting a high-end air cooler. Watercoolers are less effective than air coolers at the same price point, because in addition to cooling surface, you have to pay for a pump, tubing, and coolant, in addition to being less reliable - the pumps DO eventually fail, ask me how I know. IMO, a Cryorig or Noctua cooler would be a more cost effective choice.

Under overclocked load of the i7 it only ran 4 degrees C hotter than the thermaltake water 3.0, 2 degrees hotter than a nepton 280L and less than 2 degrees hotter than a cm h105. I wouldn't spend $50 or 50 gbp for 2-4c better cooling. The ts140 power is a taller cooler but will fit your case.

For instance my 4690k stays cool enough but to get from 4.6ghz to 4.7ghz requires going from 1.29v to around 1.35, 1.36v which is just more voltage than I'm comfortable running 24/7. 1.3v is considered the upper safe limit for regular use. A water cooler may drop my temps a few degrees but won't benefit my overclock any since I can't just keep cranking up the core voltage. Some chips will reach 4.8, others won't go past 4.3 but both are less common the ones that will reach 4.5-4.7ghz.

Thanks! That was a very in-depth and appreciate the advice :D One of the other reasons why I was going for a water cooler was the fact it very large and clunky. It covers the 4 ram spot which is unfortunate and is one of the reasons of changing to an water cooler. I find the more expensive air coolers are even bigger than the evo 212! Therefore can you recommend what water cooler I should get? Best bang for your buck and performance.
