Hello everyone,

I'm looking to undertake the somewhat daunting task of building a budget gaming rig (1st build) with a budget of approx. £500 - £600.

I must admit that I'm not immensely tech savvy and have been out of the PC gaming scene for a while. Typically looking to play games such as Fallout 4 and various current MOBAs/FPS' comfortably.

Having browsed the forums and other completed builds I've stumbled through and come up with the below:

If anyone on this site could take a look and comment, it'd be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
J

Solution
MB - You don't really save much going with B150 over H170...
MEM - Always install modules in pairs to take advantage of the dual memory controllers. A single modules will have you in single channel mode (reduced performance). You will still have two open slots for a future upgrade if needed.
HD - Less failures with the WD Blue.
GPU - Changed to a different factory overclocked variant for less cost. Both are good options.
CASE - The Tesseract below is a solid case on a budget.

Your original build was closer to 670 with the OS cost factored in. If you have more budget available, then look toward an i5 upgrade or an SSD...

Hi again,

Have had a play around with the build, now potentially looking to stretch the budget to £700ish to push for an i5 CPU. Can you please take a look at the below and let me know how it looks?

Thanks in advance.

CPU - The i5-6400 is a very welcome upgrade from the i3. Check out the speed and price difference between the i5-6400 and the i5-6500. For £17 more you have a 3.2GHz clock speed vs the 2.7GHz of the i5-6400. Just something to think about...
MB - Good to see you kept H170. Changed to a different H170 variant from Gigabyte. Same features and less cost.
PSU - Your original Seasonic was a good choice, but that EVGA B1 is a major step in the wrong direction. XFX, Seasonic, the EVGA G2 lineup, or filter through the Tier 1 or Tier 2 list. www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
