Should I upgrade from 8GB to 16GB ram for Gaming?

Solution
Normally I would say no, but memory is very cheap right now. If this is the last thing you will do to the system for a while it might be worth it. If you have an SSD it is also a good idea, helps to buffer the data.

DDR3 production should begin to cease and its price may rise. Though I have been surprised by the prices at places like Dell.com, I think they must have warehouses full of DDR2 and DDR3.

For gaming, not really, unless you like to leave a bunch of things open in the background, such as google chrome and other programs. It is a pretty cheap upgrade to do though, if you ever consider doing video work or other intense programs 16 GB of RAM would be useful. There are times when After Effects use 24 GB of RAM.

If you edit videos or play really tough games which you would also wanna record, then yes. If it's just casual gaming, no - that's not necessary :)
