Hi all.

Its been around 6 years since i last built a pc. Im now getting multiple BSODs, can barely keep it on long enough to find the problem and what i do get points to a harddrive problem (ntfs.sys) or. Memory. So i suspect the time has come for an upgrade. While my software knowledge is good hardware has moved on a lot and so i seek your advice.

Gaming wise i play some simulators and would like x plane 10 to run on high settings with good ai. I also play gtav on the present pc which runs at a reasonable pace on low settings! Other games i play are quite undemanding except fallout and bizarely civ 5 which will ctd if it gets too demanding.

In terms of work nothing will stress it too much.

So my budget is around £800 with max 1k for parts an os and case. If a rig can do the above for cheaper thats great. But a bit of longevity and future proofing would be good. Id also be willing to try an ssd. Have heard and seen good things about them. I have a decent monitor and speakers already and the keyboard and mouse do the job!

Thanks for any advice.

Jon

You should probably wait for the GTX 1070 to come out and then get it.

For the same price as that overpriced cooler, here are three much, much better coolers.

Sorry. beQuiet's cooler is better in some ways, but 3X as much in the US as the cryorig. Didn't realize it was so much cheaper in Europe, and that the cryorig was more expensive.
