How should I upgrade my PC?

Hello everyone,

I bought my current PC a few years ago for school and playing a few not intensive games like Terraria and Civilizations 5. However my gaming needs have changed and I'm thinking of upgrading my PC.

I have a motherboard with an FM2+ socket, the AMD A4-5300 CPU with integrated graphics, 8gb of ram and a 500W power supply. 8gb's of ram is enough for me however I want to upgrade my CPU and maybe buy a GPU.

I was thinking of buying the 7870K as I saw a great deal on it the other day(€100,- instead of €150,-). Will this alone be enough to run games like Fallout 4 or GTA 5 on 1080p with a decent framerate? And if not, is this chip a good enough processor if I buy a separate graphics card? And what graphics card should I buy? Is a GTX 970 overkill?

I also got an offer from a friend who is willing to buy my computer for €200,-. Would it maybe be a better idea to sell my PC and build a new one all together?

Thanks in advance,

Silvy2

I would upgrade your CPU and GPU (Everything else looks fine) Here is an AMD 6 core for $95 and a cheap motherboard.
To save you a lot of money i would go with a GTX 950. A lot cheaper and not too much older than the 970 you was going to get.

This AMD 6 core is also cheaper AND faster than the 4 core you was going to get.
If you don't want to get a new motherboard then the CPU you choose is a good choice.

Thank you for the help, but if I'm going to change the graphics card, the CPU and the motherboard don't you think it will be better to build a new PC altogether and sell my old one? Or is it cheaper to just upgrade all the parts I have? And is the GTX 960 worth the extra cash compared to the GTX 950?
