Ubuntu/Mint liveCD persistence

Hi! So I mistakenly operated a virtual box without installing the operating system to the virtual hard drive, so my computer science homework didn't persist when I booted it up the next time I started virtual box up. My question is, where can I find these files? I assume they still exist somewhere because I "saved" them.

They we "saved" in a your home directory while you ran LiveCD. This home directory was created into the RAM space of the liceCD, and this home directory is gone the moment you've shut down that liveCD.

Since you did not install that Ubuntu in yoour VirtualBox, there is no permament storage.
