I was wondering if there is another way to make the files on the implanted external drive recognisable without a full re-format or transferring them to another external HDD first. I will leave it there. There is probably going to be a blunt answer. I am just not that informed on the software side of things.

After looking on other Hard-Drive related forums I can see that there is ways like using Quick Format and other programs like:
"Active@ Uneraser"
"GetMyData"
"GetDataBack"
"Ontrack easyRecovery"

Has anyone used these before - I kind of want assurance that it works before I jump in.

(The drive has 2TB of date spare - It would seem it could just work around it?)

Only videos. I have maybe a bit over 1TB of video on it.

How would I go about keeping them or recovering them?

Nope. Unfortunately. What would be different with plugging it into another PC?

I think another External HD would be easier to borrow than a full PC, anyway. I kept my USB 3.0 adapter thing so I can always do the hard transfer option. I made this partly because I am either lazy or too busy to run around asking friends for a spare HD. I just was curious about the software part of it.

If I went to "Format...." would it bring up a couple options?
