I recently bought a netbook to stream music to my stereosystem. The sound from the 3.5mm audioport is pretty bad. It's a bit shallow.

Netbook model: TOSHIBA SATELLITE CL10-C-104

I was wondering if buying a USB Stereo adapter would solve this problem. It's not like I want very high quality. Just normal quality like every onboard soundcard on a decent motherboard.

If you have suggestions for possible, not too expensive, usb stereo adapters please let me know.

Thanks.

That Ewent one is one of the cheaper ones. They're all pretty much the same, just with a different, no-name logo on them. It's expected that they aren't very good. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. Laptop sound controllers are not as good as desktops, and desktops are still not as good as the dedicated sound cards. I would go for the more expensive one, since it will most likely come with it's own power source, and be able to drive more powerful sound.

You can't go wrong with Creative.
http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Performance-Headphone-Integrated-Microphone/dp/B00EZT7RE4/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1464104481&sr=1-3&keywords=creative+usb+sound+card
That one is a little pricey, but they're great in terms of quality. I think that model even supports surround.

A cheaper option would probably be this one

Amazon reviews give it 3.5 stars.

Thanks for your answer Corey Schneider.

Since I dont have access to amazon from where I live, I went to the local electronics store to buy one.
I bought an Ewent EW3751 R1. Im testing this on my laptop and my ears are bleeding. I don't understand how a cheap onboard soundcard from my laptop motherboard can be so much better than an external soundcard. The sound is shallow, a bit high pitched and not much bass. I don't get it. Do I realy have to buy a 100$ soundcard to get normal decent sound? Am I missing something here?
