When I first got this laptop I could run Minecraft fine (80fps+) w/optifine.

Now on the same settings I struggle to get 40fps w/optifine

Minecraft gradually got laggier after around 4 months so it was like:

month4 : 70fps
month5: 60fps
month6: 50fps
month:7 40fps and it just stayed at 40fps.

Any solutions how to fix/what's causing the problem? Thanks

Specs:

CPU: AMD A8 6410 APU w/ AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.00Ghz
RAM: 8GB
64 bit operating system
Windows 8.1

Solution
Things to try:

-Update drivers (GPU/APU).
-Physically clean the system out (dust).
-If AVG/Malwarebytes came back clean then that's good.
-If you've used mods for Minecraft then make sure there the newest/updated versions, once that's done if the problem persist you may need to deactivate them 1 by 1 to see if there conflicting causing your drop in FPS.

Hey,

First thing to check with slowly decreasing performance is CPU and GPU temperature, a good program for this is MSI afterburner: https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

Also defragment your disk. To do this type in administrator controls in your search bar, open administrator tools and select Defragment and optimise drives.

Another thing to try is to run an antivirus scan to see if any malware is running on your system.

I defragmented my disk and scanned for viruses with AVAST And MalwareBytes No virus' were found. My GPU Temp is 47c-58c avg. And my CPU Temp is 45c-55c avg

Hey,

Just to clarify, those temperatures are when you are playing minecraft, or when you are just on your desktop?

Another thing to check is your idle CPU usage and GPU usage. Again, MSI afterburner can do this for you. See what it is like when idle and gaming.
