Use a Xeon CPU or Intel I7?

Hi all,

I am just wondering which one is more efficient in your opinion.

Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2667 v4 or Intel® Core™ i7-5960X Processor?

do both of them need a power supply to enable them to work using the regular wall plug?

What is the best motherboard for Xeon E5-2667?

I will be using the computer for design and animation.

The i7 would be your better choice for a workstation or for gaming. It supports many more instruction sets than the Xeon, resulting in better performance in those areas. A Xeon is great for a server or 64 GB+ RAM, but for gaming... not so much.
Both need to be attached to a system that has at minimum a motherboard, RAM, storage drive, and power supply.
Both processors use the LGA2011-3 socket and DDR4 memory, so they could (theoretically) be interchangeable. The "best motherboard" is often a topic of debate. I recommend the Gigabyte X99-UD4 or the MSI X99S Gaming 7 if you want maximum performance out of everything in the system. (Assuming you only want one processor of course)
