Hello friends,

I just picked up a new gaming computer from CyberPower. The main drive (C:|) is a 256GB SSD card. The F drive is a 3TB HHD.

So here is the problem, I tried to transfer files from old Windows 7 computer to new Windows 10 using PCMover (supported by Microsoft). I had 525GB of files to move. I did the transfer to an external hard drive successfully from old computer. Then while trying to install on new PC, it said the C drive would not hold it all. I wanted to upload to the F drive but it would not allow it. I tried calling the PCmover support, but no response.

Can anyone tell me, should I not have added the 256GB SSD and have it as the primary C drive? I am sorry I am not that computer savoy and this is now an issue because all the programs I need are downloading and filling up the C drive quickly. How can I remedy this problem?

Thank you in advance for your time, trouble and help.

you can also change your download folder to the hdd and even move the my documents folders there as well if you wish. i run multiple os's and move everything like this to a single data drive so all the os's can access and use the data when they need to. nice to have all my downloads and documents going to the same place no matter what os i am currently using :)

Hello again, I must apologize, I did see some great responses to this already asked question. I will have to manually move files and programs to the HHD drive. I see I can redirect them before I install anything. I hope this works! Lol

Thank you all for a great forum with all the right answers. I am sure I will be back to ask more questions, but lets hope all goes well first.

Never used PCMover but it probably needs to put programs back in the same drive location they were in before so it probably won't do what you want.

Best thing is to reinstall software from scratch and specify where it installs as you do. Sometimes you can just copy the old directory over top of the newly installed one to transfer any settings and files but it's best to google how to move each program individually as they can hide files in all kinds of places.
