Just got a brand new r9 380x and when tested it out on a game the gpu usage would go up and down from 100 to 0 and eventually it crashed and the screen went black. And now when I restart my pc the screen wont show anything for a while.

I was staying at 60 fps so I don't know what happened, I'm hoping I didn't get a faulty gpu.

Spec
i5 3570k
Sahpire r9 380x 4gb

The temps were around 65-70, I just got the card today and my old card doesn't work.

I tested it for Fallout 4 and it ran on ultra at 50-60 fps no problem, it didn't crash or anything, so I don't really know whats going on.

Yeah, well, the GPU usage spiking is fine and it's probably just a minor bug if you get normal performance. However, if it suddenly crashed with no signs of overheating, and it doesn't quite work anymore, I think it's faulty...

You have an integrated GPU, test it out, I guess?

Oh yes, before we hear "ooh those CX PSUs are junk" again, I won't argue with you guys.

It only crashed after it spiked heavily but I still heard sound and everything.

I was able to play Fallout without it crashing so I think it will be ok.

I've also heard bad things about the cx psu and I plan on upgrading once I have the money. I get paranoid that my psu will die and screw up my system also.

CX PSUs are not bad... Users here like to exaggerate it's mediocre build quality and second tier capacitors, sometimes misleading people saying "they're junk". I'm not going to argue with them anymore.

Anyways, I have had a card that suddenly stopped displaying like that, and it was faulty. If it doesn't bother you that much then it's probably OK to krep it...
