SATA power working with DVD drive but not internal hd

Hi,

Truing to use the power cable for my DVD drive with a second hd but it does not appear in Windows or the BIOS. Tried different drives and had the same issue, power cable works fine with DVD drive.

Hi,
To be CLEAR:

1) You have a power cable with more than one SATA POWER output.
and
2) The DVD drive is attached to one and works,
and
3) More than one HDD has been tested on the other SATA POWER connector on the same cable and none are detected.

SOLUTION:
Try swapping the DVD cable to an HDD and see if it works. I'm guessing a bad power connector since apparently multiple HDD's work.

You normally have more than two SATA power connectors so I'm not quite sure what's going on.
