can't open msg on seagate - how do I find application on windows 10 dell laptop as it doesn't list mail or outlook, etc..

Solution
Thank you for the clarification
You might want to check out the tutorial from this article if the files are ".pst": https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Open-and-find-items-in-an-archive-Outlook-Data-File-pst-2e2b55a4-f681-4b93-90cb-31d39349fb95.

If that doesn't work, would you please let us know what's the files' extension and what version of outlook did you use when you've archived them and which one are you using now.

Perhaps getting in touch with Microsoft's customer support, to see if the guys there can back you up with a solution.

Please keep us updated.
Hey there, Linda.

I'm a bit confused, the title left me with the impression that you can't open a hard drive. Is the problem with Windows 10 apps? Would you be so kind as to give a bit more info regarding the issue?

If you are having a problem with outlook, perhaps it would be a good idea if you could contact Microsoft's customer support for more info.

I'll be awaiting more details.

Boogieman - what happened is I bought new dell operating on Windows 10. After downloading all new apps and programs tried to open saved email files stored on my seagate portable drive and they won't open- somehow they show default type as msg and opens in word and its shapes and symbols not letters!
When I right click open with..it doesn't show a mail app and even when I click search C drive it doesn't show a mail app. Both Outlook and Windows mail are loaded on laptop. Hope you have solution to get my saved messages opened! Thank you

popatim - I used Outlook and saved in Seagate portable drive.
Now I use gmail but this new Dell laptop has Windows mail loaded and I also downloaded free Outlook mail. Neither of these show up as options to OPEN WITH when I right click archived message in Seagate and select open with...it only shows Adobe acrobat pdf, notepad, search the store or choose other app
So Weird - somehow it has defaulted all my saved emails to notepad which doesn't open the email as they were saved as OUTLOOK email.
