ok so recently i upgraded from a dual core AMD athlon 2 x2 240 to a AMD FX 4300 CPU.
but when i view the processor under task manager it shows graphs for 4 cores but under it says i have 2 cores and 4 logical processors so what is the difference between logical processors and cores

Solution
The AMD bulldozer CPU uses an architecture that is confusing. Each AMD CPU is made up of a certain number of modules. These modules have two individual cores. Each core have has a certain number of integrated functions, but each module shares resources between the cores. What I mean is that one module shares the same resources (a FPU iirc) so Windows does not count each core as a core but as a logical processor.
