After updating my nvidia driver, I keep getting the blue screen with the nvlddmkm.sys errors after the "Starting Window" load. So I tried reformatting my windows and replacing a new graphic card that I bought today. Now, I have no blue screen, but my screen will be blank and nothing happens right after "

". I have to go into Safe Mode to delete the Nvidia driver in order to run my computer normally. Right now, my display adapter always show Standard VGA graphic. It seems that my pc cannot detect the graphic card. But how can the nvidia website know what graphic card I have when I use their auto find driver? My window update is also able to detect that my graphic card is GTX 960 for the driver. Another issue is that my Sleep and Hibernate under Start menu is greyed out. I cannot click on them. Google says most of the time is due to no graphic card that sleep and hibernate are not available.

So what is the issue that prevent my PC to work after installing the graphic card driver? Could it be the PCI Express slot is broken? Motherboard? PSU? but everything else look perfectly fine. I can do almost anything on my comp like always... just not able to do things like playing games. Mother board and PSU cannot be tested cuz I have no extra one. I really duno what to do. Is there a way to check if my PSU and Motherboard are fine without replacing them?

EDIT:: SOLVED

Solution
Ok thanks to all that tried to help. I fixed the issue. It turns out that the motherboard PCI Express slot has issue. Maybe I pulled it too hard or plug in too hard when i install the GPU..

this error has lot's of reasons one of the most popular reasons is the graphic card and PCI express link that it has some kind of damage or sometimes the graphic card it self.
so the first solution that comes to mind is to set the power link of the PCI express port to maximum you can do it this way:
1-go to power options
2-in power plans chose High Performance and then click on the change plan settings
3-in the settings page click on the change advanced power settings
4-in the advanced settings find PCI Express
5-open PCI Express and then Link State Power Management
6-make sure it's set on OFF
----------------------------------------\
another solution to consider is to swipe the drivers of the graphic card
----------------------------------------\
you also can turn off the windows visual settings and see if it fixes the problem.you can done it this way:
1-go to computer advanced settings
2-go to advanced tab and then click on the performance settings
3-in the visual effect tab click on the adjust for best performance.
4-apply and then restart.

I've tried the power options and restarted my computer. Everything looks ok, but right after I install the nvdia driver and restart the computer again I still get blue screen. Second option, I used DDU to uninstall the driver and deleted the folders from C: drive (still get blue screen). Third option, didn't help.

I just tried my laptop to look at that screenshot! Holy cow, that laptop cannot see any horizontal red lines at all... The original screenshot has hundreds of lines. I guess it has to do with the card :( If only I have an extra graphic card to test out. Here is a photo I took with my phone http://i.imgur.com/gLUJwc2.jpg Thanks for pointing it out!

I got this issues as well, it got me to reinstall windows, reseat gpu psu and ram sticks, clean dust, change dozens of drivers, and recreat nvlddmkm file. The bsod is persistent. Im buying a new GPU. Hopefully it is not the PSU. PSU is cheaper but if it turns out the PSU is the culprit after buying a new GPU, that'll be uncool.

just like you, I visited nearly all the sites I found with nvlddmkm title. Its time for a new GPU mate

I bought a new GPU today, and now I don't have the red lines anymore. However, I still cannot install the nvdia graphic card driver. Everything is clean installed!!! My PC just can't seem to work after I install the driver... then it will work again after i uninstall it. I can only use the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter driver that is installed automatically after I uninstall the nvdia driver. I duno what to do now.... I guess either my motherboard or the PCI express slot is broken?

I bought GTX 960

Yea I plugged my monitor to the DVI thing on my graphic card.. Note: my computer can run perfectly fine as long as I have no nvidia driver. If I install it, my PC wont show anything after the Load screen in the pic above. I have to go safe mode to delete the driver so I can use the PC... but i cant play games at all with the VGA graphic. The graphic card is fine.. I tried 3 graphic cards so far with the ony I bought today, my old one and my old old one.. Can't be graphic card's fault. It has to be the motherboard, the PCI slot broken, or the PSU. I have no extra spare for those... If I replace motherboard and PSU... i basically just building a new pc....
