I want to open up my PC because as of recent my GPU has been. I think the fans may be full of dust, any precautions?

Keep in mind my GPU is old, GT 220, i have been using it to test it on high end games recently but i haven't been allowed to do so due to the high temperatures although it s only at like 20% use? Also it shuts down at around 110 C°. Also my card isn't overclocked if that helps? Thanks.

on high end games it will be very poor. It'll be at 20% as it is throttling in all likelihood, although i would have though it would look different. 110C is probably indicating a stopped fan, an inefficient cooling mechanism caused by dust etc. I would not expect to be so high.

I'll sure try it. :D

safty for the pc and yourself. before you open the case turn the pc off and pull the plug from the wall. go get a cup of coffee or tea wait till the mb drains of power. use a small plastic bowl for the screws. you dont want them falling into your power supply or carpet where it kill your vac. when you dedust a pc you can use a can of compress air used for camras or if you have a shop with an air tank use the air tool to blow the dust out. with the case open and clean power the pc back up watch the fans see if any of them are slow or stuck. if the fan in the power supply is broken dont open the unit. check online if it under warranty if it out just replace it. when you do the dedusting check for leaky caps or swolen caps. in the power supply and on the mb. if you see some see if there recall or extended warranty on the part. if the pc also a few years old replace the cr203 cmos battery at the same time.
