Hi folks,

I'm about to click buy on one of these cards (They are in my budget and I can't wait and buy a 970+new PSU etc...).

The price difference is €26 euro, so not a deal breaker, but I wonder is the trade off between more power consumed, more noise and heat worth the extra few FPS.
The many reviews online are so back and forth that I can't decide.

I'm gaming at 1080p on a 24" monitor and play World of Warships, The Grid games, GTA, Fifa, The COD series, Battlefield 4 etc... and want to get Star Wars Battlefront and play it at decent settings.

Asus M5A97 R2.0
Antec 900 case (tidy cables allowing lots of filtered air to pass through).
FX 6300
2 x 4gb 1600Mhz
HD 7770 vapor-x
Corsair HX520w which has a 6+2 connector for the GPU

These are the cards I'm mulling over.

Thanks in advance.

I think the R9 380 requires 2 x 6 pin power connectors. I'm not overly familair with your PSU - does it have 2 x 6 pin pci-e connectors? It might not.

While I would recommend a 380X over the 960 (I have seem them for as little as 219€) the 960 is your best bet vs. the 380.

Thanks for the reply. I had checked the spec on the Gigabyte website and the G1 gaming 380 is listed as 500W (with one 8-pin external power connector).
So my 6+2 on the Corsair would power it (I think?).

Yeah, best advice at this time is wait a few weeks then see what develops.

AMD are supposed to be targeting the 'mainstream' gamers with their new hardware for 2016. Which is basically the people who buy a 950 or 960 or R9 380 etc. Expect something priced very keenly with good 'bang for buck' in a few weeks. Plus something running a bit cooler and using less power!

In any event, when all the new Nvidea and AMD cards hit the shops, the prices of new and used current gen cards are going to drop a bit anyway....

Thanks for the answers lads.
Sorry for the late return to the thread. I wasn't being rude... I ended up in hospital the evening I posted it.

I've taken it onboard and will wait for the RX480 at the end of the month.
