Hello all,

Currently I'm trying to see which one of these CPUs would be for better use of me, the i5 6600k or i7 6700k. 100 dollar difference... I do plan on OCing the CPU. Also I will have TWO 980 ti's SLI'd, at 1440p 144hz display.

Main question here is, would the i5 be good now and the future of gaming? Say 1-2 years of games. Or is the i7 actually worth it? Also would the i5 be a bottleneck at all with 980 ti SLI? I don't really plan on doing much other than gaming.

Thanks!

It's really worth waiting for either rather that Buying two 980ti's(if you don't already own them).
Also, with SLI with powerful cards, an i7 really starts to show it's muscles against an i5.
That, and the fact that games will get better threaded with the comming DX12 make it a...

Alright, I do understand the new 1080's and 1070's are in fact faster. But as pre orders sold out within 5 mins for the 1080... Supply is extremely low... Probably won't be able to easily attain one for awhile...

But thank you for the input. :)

I suggest you buy the i7 6700k because u can oc it to as high as 4.8ghz ,its supports hyper-threading and you will get better fps on games and it should last more than 3 -4 years also I recommend u buying a pair of gtx 1080s, if have enough money, because they are optimized for 2way sli and also they are greater than a pair of 980ti s and it will cost a little more.if you don't want to do that just grab your pair of 1080s and the i5 6600k which should do the work just as well on games ,but it has no hyper-threading and it wont be so future proof as the 6700k and the fps should be a little lower like 15-20fps maximum
