Computer won't boot while GPU is connected.

So yesterday afternoon I got on my computer to do my normal things (gaming, watching livestreams, etc...) when out of nowhere my PC just completely shut down. At first I didn't really think much of it and went to reboot it, but when I did that nothing happened but I did notice the led in my power button dimly lit.

I was looking around on some forums and such and saw that it could be either that my psu is not generating sufficient power or it could be a problem with my mobo/gpu.

The first thing I did was I took out my gpu from the PCI-E port and disconnected the 6 pin power cord. After that I went to turn on the PC and it booted fine. Next I decided to try to put my GPU into the PCI-E but with no power this time and tried to boot but again nothing happened - even without power to the GPU.

I took the GPU from my brothers computer and tried the same thing (plugging the GPU into the pci-e with no power) and voila my PC booted fine. Also I couldn't get power to his card since his is weird and doesn't have the same 6 pin as mine does.

So now I'm really confused and feel like my gpu is just dead and is causing problems with booting my computer.

I have an Alienware X51 R1 that has not been upgraded.

Specs:
CPU - Intel® Core™ I7-3770 Quad Core (8MB Cache, up to 3.40GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

RAM - DDR3 PC3-10666 NON-ECC (1333 MHz) 16 Gb

PSU - 330W Dell Alienware X51 i7 AC Adapter Charger Power Cord

GPU - Nvidia GeForce GTX 660

Mobo - Stock Alienware Mini-itx (not sure exactly what it is as I cannot find it)

Also as sort of a FYI; I cannot test my gpu in another computer as my brothers computer doesn't have the space for it and I don't know anyone else that would let me test. (May make things a bit more complicated I guess :/ sorry)

Solution
What did you think would happen when you put a 100W PSU with a ~180W GPU in a system with a 250W PSU? (effectively it's just 250W on 12V)

Most likely the PSU is just dying, but you'll need to test the GPU to be certain it's not just the GPU

Well it's not like I myself put those components in the system and I certainly didn't expect a company to mess that up. Anyways, I guess I'll have to find some way to test the card then.

Thanks for the reply though!
