I recently just re-installed an OS and updated my BIOS just to make sure that I would run into any problems. Before the reinstall my computer would always boot into the OS and would recognize all my ram sticks. But after the re-install, my computer will either randomly accept the 4th ram stick and will boot into the OS or it will not boot and will only give me 1 beep from the speaker which makes me remove the 4th ram stick which will then allow it to boot. I don't think its a bad ram stick or slot because when it does accept the 4th stick, I would check my system properties and it will tell me that all of my ram sticks are installed (btw, I have 2x4g and 2x2g). Can anyone give any advice about this?

Edit 1: My mb (Gigabyte G1 Sniper H6) supports dual channel and has 4 slots with each of the sticks in it's appropriate slot

Compatibility issues sometimes occur when 2 identical kits are used; you are using 2 different kits which can cause really weird issues. Remove the 4 GB kit or buy a 16 GB kit if you need more than 8 GB of memory. An alternate solution is to manually set the frequency and timings until the system is stable.

The thing is, I'm starting to think it's not the ram anymore. I think it might have something to do with the bios. I did update about a week ago about the time it started doing all of this

It wasn't that big of an issue as I didn't want any problems with installing the new ram sticks I got. Now realizing my mistake I think I should of just stayed on the previous bios as I didn't encounter any problems. And I cant restore the previous one since my mobo is acting up now
