Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive.
I assume that this is a secondary internal drive right?(your OS is on another drive)
One thing you can do is to just attach it with different cables(both SATA & power ones) to another SATA port. You can even attach it to another system. That way you will be absolutely sure if all of this is related to your system or there is something wrong with the drive itself.

You can try to see if the drive would be recognized under a different OS as well. Boot up Ubuntu from a CD or a flash drive and see if you will manage to find the drive:
