USB ports not working, yet work when a new user is created on that user account?

I use my laptop to play Flight Simulator X on, however my USB ports do not work for one user account on Windows 10, namely Oliver FSX. However, I created a new user last night, called OL FX and the USB ports worked fine. I woke up this morning, and on the OL FX account, the USB ports had stopped again.

This happens a lot, usually at 3-4 week intervals, but never overnight - Any ideas please??

Thanks, Oliver

I do have the latest drivers, but I am currently restoring the system to 2 weeks ago. And I will try a BIOS update

Ok, here's the thing. I'm worried about doing the BIOS update, as I have read that if it freezes then the computer will be unbootable :/

I've also since updated the drivers to the latest through Device Manager, and have no yellow flags and now do not have a device reading 'link in compliance mode (Error 43).

I understand your concern, properly done should it give no problems, but you're right if it goes bad do you probab;y need another motherboard or at least bios chip.
Don'know for sure if it will fix your problem anyway,it's up to you.

Yet you still have the problems with the usb ports?

Yep, no idea why. Last time there were no yellow flags, I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, which therefore installed new drivers and all was well for a few weeks, until the cycle begun again. At this point, I could simply just create a new user account and it worked, but as mentioned earlier not anymore...

I know that changing my OS version will fix it, ie changing from Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 etc etc. I just don't know how to go about that.

Okay, I'm well and truly giving up.

I reset the PC using delete all files, but selected the just delete the files method, rather than the delete all files and clean drive. That didn't work... The most, anticlimactic experience in my life.

Now I've resorted to delete all files and clean drive. I highly doubt that this is gonna work, but hey ho we live in hope. If it doesn't work, looks like I'm going for a new computer...
