Hey, i have a fx-8320 processor on ASRock 970 Extreme 3 motherboard. Trying to oc it to 4 ghz, set voltage to ~1.375, and after 1 hour 44 minutes of testing i get an error.

I just tried to upp the voltage to ~1.4, same thing happen (1 hour 37 min error).

I only wish i got a reason, but nope. Maybe there is some info in these pics from OCCT? Can somebody look at them and tell me if im right or wrong?
Also what im thinking about: how problematic this actually is? I mean, i will never fill my cpu to 100% with any game, and if i get a decent fps with no errors or bsods- is it okay to just leave it as is?

Solution
The extreme 3 is in all honesty absolute cack for an 8 core 125w chip.
Vrm heatsinks & spot coolers would be literally throwing money away , its not just the fact it's a 4 phase setup, ultimately the MOSFETs are just poor quality too , throttle at 50c, burn at 60c.

Those boards are from asrocks dire period 2-3 years ago , they've improved nowadays but back then they were the lowest of the low quality wise.

I think the 'Extreme' is short for extremely bad ;-)
My workplace blocked the imgur site so I don't know what it is. But from what I know the ASRock 970 Extreme 3, it does not support the fx8320, the MB has lower power phase count (4+1), because you try to oc the fx8320, you will get more troubles. So just leave it as is, don't oc the fx8320.
Also what cooler do you have? Don't tell me you have the hyper 212 evo something like that, the tower cooler does not work well for your CPU (fx8 series cpu)/MB ( lower power phase count).
More info for the power phase count and the cooling, check the http://www.overclock.net/t/943109/about-vrms-mosfets-motherboard-safety-with-125w-tdp-processors

I have an ARCTIC Freezer (dont remember exact model).
I checked on that cpu support list, and it has my model in it (FD832EWMW8KHK). Still, strange thing is year ago overclocking worked fine...

So, best option is a better mb?

I used the word marginal. That means some CPUs mught work fine. I would never recommend that motherboard for that CPU and expect to overclock it.

Gaming is a high-performance use, like motor racing is for cars. For ordinary business and home use, that motherboard will 'support' that CPU.

The Gigabyte GA 970A-UD3P is a bargain, high quality motherboard where you can overclock FX83xx CPUs to your heart's content.

FD832EWMW8KHK is the fx8320E, which has 95W TDP. And your fx8320 has 125W TDP.

From those pictures, two from the CPU0 you can see the frequency did keep drop to lower, specially in the 2nd test. So either buy the other MB, like DonkeyOatie siad, GA 970A-UD3P , or Asus M5A97 R2.0, even the 990 chipset MB. Or don't oc the cpu at all.

I've put everything to default settings in bios but still get some choppy performance sometimes.
Decided to give it away for a full diagnostic on monday (since i tried to test every piece of hardware with no result), gonna see what they tell me.
Hope its the mb and not cpu itself, dont want to spend another 150 euros :p
