Hey all,

I wanted to make sure my temperatures were safe and need feedback on airflow. I have been using the 980 ti for 3d software applications like 3ds max, maya as well as photoshop and GPU rendering via Octane Render. I won't be using it for games but the usage is very similar. The weather in california is getting hotter now so just making sure that these temps are okay.

980 ti temperatures

30c when idle from boot

75c on full load from octane render . It never goes past the 75c mark. With this GPU, I noticed the fans don't even kick in until 60-63c. Then the fans will gradually increase speed as the temperatures rise trying to maintain a "certain" temperature. (Keep in mind I wasn't using anything this advanced before so it's all pretty new to me). 1408 factory overclock on load.

40-46c idle after load, 35-39c after a few minutes. Once I stop the render, the fans will continue to spin until the 50-55c range. Then the fans turn completely off. Says 0 rpm in HWinfo64.

I'm thinking it can get alot cooler after load. My case is a mid tower - NZXT S340. It came with 2 exhaust fans mounted in the rear and the top. I added an intake fan in the top front bracket from an old cooler master hyper 212. I might get another fan but I ran out of fan pins on the cpu and I like to be able to set the fan curve for the case.

The exhaust fans are spinning at 1000ish rpm and the intake is spinning at 800 rpm. The intake fan is only hitting the cpu cooler(noctua d14). Maybe the negative pressure(assuming I have it set up correctly) is cooling the gpu passively? I don't think the intake case cooler is hitting the gpu directly.

System 32c idle
PCH 38c idle
CPU 26c idle

My Questions

Is 75c safe on load for a GPU?

Should I get another case fan or move the hyper evo fan to the bottom intake slot? Wouldn't mind buying more fans but I would have to use a y splitter and I noticed you can only control one fan per splitter.

Suggestions on airflow for the NZXT s340?

Thanks for reading. All advice is welcome.

Solution
75 is fine, my 970 runs at 80ish, as did my 8800, 470 and 580.

The specs have the max temps as being high 90's except for the 980ti which is 92C
