I have the gtx 760 sc with my i5 6500, and i play games at 1080p only. I am wondering how much longer it will last to atleast play games on medium-high settings. As of right now i can play pretty much everything on high settings. maybe on a game or two i have to drop a few settings to medium. So i pretty much want to know if this card will still be decent for 1080p gaming, and how long will it last.

im prolly going to be getting a 970 when they drop in price, because i would never spend more then 250 on a gpu. but honestly i really do not want to spend the money if i don't have to.

No one can know for sure how long a card will last for new titles at a given res/settings. Game fidelity is subjective to a point but at some point unplayable is a reality. My advice to you is to start the savings now for your next GPU. If you are on Skylake as you mentioned the rest of your platform will support a couple of GPU upgrades for sure. So start saving the funds now so when that game drops that brings your current GPU to its knees as far as your tolerance goes. Pop the upgrade.

Cheers!
I'd call the 760 a medium setting card at best nowadays really (I find myself unable to settle for less than 50fps minimum though personally)

It'll last as long as your Happy with fps on the games you own.
I have an inkling it will really struggle on doom 4 if that's a game you were interested in.

The issue is ,as the mainstream cards get more & more powerful ,developers seem to optimise less & less as if there is no need when ultra powerful hardware is available.

I'm still running my old 750sc, and it runs games just fine... depending on the game I can still get decent framerates on high settings. That being said, with a lot of the games coming out, it's getting harder and harder to keep up, I haven't tried anything like GTA, the most graphically intensive game I play now is Star Citizen, and I can usually get decent framerates out of that, if I set everything to medium or low.

So it depends what games you're playing. If you're wanting to play the newest triple-A game release, you're probably not going to enjoy it unless you get an upgrade... but it'll be able to at least play the game for you on low, maybe medium.

My whole rig is outdated, so I'm getting a new one in a few months, but I'm content with what I have for the time being
