Hello, I'm stuck on such a horrible problem after seemingly being completely error free in building my new system. I am reusing my ssd and hdd from my old system with the same psu, but a new cpu, mobo and ram and case. So I thought once everything was put together it should be exactly the same just everything quicker with the new components however I am stuck where the mouse and keyboard work in the bios however once leaving bios, whether it be a safe mode or normal start up in Windows 7, the mouse and keyboard refuse to work no matter what I do. Have tried using different USB ports, playing around with restarting the power switch and and releasing electrons by holding in the power button, no matter which form of safe mode the KB & M would not work. And I have the mobo installation disk however I am unable to use it as it will just prompt me to run it when in Windows but I cannot make it run as I have no keyboard and mouse working.Would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you

I am using the MSI Z170A Krait Gaming Motherboard.

Moving hard drives to different MBs usually causes problems. There's the different drivers and configuration files that are not compatible with the new board. And the BIOS might not be set up correctly either. Plus the USB3 ports sometimes do not work until the drivers are installed.

Yeah I agree. I really think it is a driver thing as besides the keyboard and mouse being useless in Windows, the Ethernet cable isn't provided internet either. However I was able to atleast make the keyboard and mouse light up like normal when in Windows by disabling xhci hand off in the bios however despite them being lit up they still don't actually do anything at all when pressed :(

Yep after updating the bios via usb, i was able to use my mouse and keyboard in windows. It was very glitchy at first but it importantly allowed me to install the drivers from the motherboards disk which made everything work perfectly again, thanks for your help.
