I´m building my first PC and the people I want to add a water cooler, I have read that its not neccesary if I dont plan on overclocking + I don´t want to so it is not neccesary right?

Solution
not needed at all. the stock cooler is more than enough for a locked cpu.

don't let them talk you into it unless you really want it. plus don't let them charge you for the cooler since it comes with the cpu in the box!!

You can use the stock cooler that comes with the CPU and it should already have thermal grease on it too. The only reason to use an after market cooler is if you purchased and OEM model which doesn't come with a CPU cooler. Or if you bought a unlocked or "K" Intel model CPU and you plan to really push it. If you are planning very high over clocks then you would go with a water cooled system.

Yeah, I personally didn´t contact them, my dad did and he doesn´t really know that much about computer parts so they insited that the water cooler is necessary, but I told him it wasn´t and just wanted to double check. :)
