Hi - I am looking for advice on getting a new desktop PC for desktop publishing (SCRIBUS); image processing (GIMP/INKSCAPE); internet; and file storage. I will NOT be using it for gaming, ever.

Approximate Purchase Date: next week
Budget Range: €300-€700
System Usage from Most to Least Important: basic word/data processing; desktop publishing (SCRIBUS); image processing (GIMP/INKSCAPE); internet; file storage
Are you buying a monitor:Yes
Do you need to buy OS: Yes (Office 10)
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: none, but must deliver to Ireland and ideally will build it themselves prior to shipping
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Parts Preferences: none
Overclocking/SLI or Crossfire: No
Your Monitor Resolution: any (for work only, no gaming)
Additional Comments: No gaming, just image and text processing.
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: old crap dell PC too slow

In addition to the basic desktop PC stuff, I will need a WIFI connection, a CD drive, a mouse/keyboard, and a monitor. I do not need a huge or fancy monitor, but a decent one would be nice if not too pricy.

One year ago I requested help from the community to buy a basic PC, and they advised me the following. I ordered it (got it pre-built by hardwareversand.de - no longer in business?) and I was delighted with it. Below is what I got last year. I was hoping to get something similar but with a WIFI widget and monitor, spending about the same amount but maybe getting a little more processing power for image processing and dekstop publishing.

The GPU 750ti is completely optional. You can remove it and save 100 bucks if you don't need the extra processing power. The rest are very similar to what you got and also has a wifi enabled motherboard. Try this.

Without a 750ti you can get a more power CPU for a little more

The first option without a 750ti would be almost exactly the same performance wise.
