I have an Interl I3- 4330 with HD4600 running on a Gigabyte H97N-WIFI. I have installed a dual boot system with Windows 10 and OS X El Capitan (hacktntosh) It is a standard setup, i.e. no overclocking.

The BIG problem is that Intel's integrated graphics is giving big problems, On windows 10 it gives the "display driver stopped responding" problem. On OS X it resets the GPU frequently with the system briefly freezing or just straight login out.

So I am suspecting the on-chip HD4600 is broken.

Questions that I have:
1) How can I prove this for sure (so that I might return the chip),

2) important: would installing a Graphics Card, and disabling the HD4600 in the Bios, circumvent the problem ?

Love to hear advice !!

Solution
Try reinstalling the latest drivers from Intel and see if that helps. It's possible the motherboard could be bad and using a discrete graphics card may work for you.

How could the motherboard affect the on-chip video ? It uses the on-board RAM , but assuming that functions correctly, what else does it share ?
