Trying to find some good headphones, no pointless mic. I would prefer sennheiser. My budget is about $150-160. Razer, Astro, etc, really any gaming oriented headphones are all on my black list.

I would advise on Sennheiser as well but the issue that has presented itself at this moment is that we are unsure whether we should suggest USB driven or analog connector compatibility headphones for your use.

This would be a high end headphone but is way over your budget however this is a good set of cans nonetheless. Do note, both are analog.

If you want USB I can't answer you. I'd probably look at Steelseries.

If you want regular headphones which I recommend, then AKG K240 MKII or AKG K270 MKII are my recommendations at that price range. They have replacable cables, come with straight and curly cables, and also includes velvet (aweseome) and leatherette pads. They are sensitive enough to be used with onboard audio, but obviously better with an amp or DAC. The only issue is they are semi open back headphones. If you want closed back you have to look elsewhere.

I don't blame you for blacklisting gaming headphones. Their quality is inferior for $200 and the USB version don't last either. A good $150 pair of regular studio headphones can last a lifetime and are even better if they have replaceable cables. No soldering required to fix broken cables which will eventually happen.

I've looked at everything under $200 and it's hard to beat the AKGs. If your budget is over $200 then the market starts to open up. Also if you don't care about removable cables and are willing to solder a new cable on, then you have way more selection such as Seinheiser, Beyer Dynamic, Shure, Grado, Audio Technica, etc...
