Hello everyone! So I've never overclocked before but I want to. I dont have any reason to except for simply learning how.

I will say that I have no idea what I'm doing and Tom's has never let me down before. I have:

AMD Athlon 860K
MSI A88X-G45 Motherboard
16 GB 1333 Ram
R9 380 GPU (not sure if this is relevant)

I just did a BIOS update a few days ago, and here is what ive got:

MJTWyzs

6rLxhIb

Alrighty then... So now what :)

Athlon 860K has a unlocked multiplier in the BIOS you just simply have to raise it to overclock.
First of all you will need some tools and preperations for Overclocking.
A good CPU cooler to keep you CPU cool, Inet BurnTest Tool(IBT), Prime95 and an extensive Game.
After you have all of these thing just Go into BIOS settings and raise the multiplier a little bit. For ex. it should be on 37 by default, you can increase it to 39 to get a 3.9 Ghz overclock. After that Reboot into windows and Start running IBT Test for 20 Passes. If it fails then it means you need to increase your voltage of CPU a little bit, you can go into the BIOS and raise it from their, but be careful that you should not increase it too much, if its at 1.20v then you should not increase it over 1.22V in one time. Keep raising the voltage by 0.02 or 0.01 volts until you are bale to pass the test. While doing all this keep a note of CPU temprature so that it does not increase over 80c. After passing test, Continue with Prime95 and run it for atleast 24 hours. It will really heat up your CPU, so keep a check on temprature. If you pass the test then good, you have got a stable overclock, if not then you have to raise the voltage. You can do this step by step to keep overclocking. Stop overclocking when you reach 80c temprature on Prime95. Or get a bettre cooler to overclock more. That will be your max possible overclock. Good luck ;)
