Windows is not loading after the sign-in part. I got it checked and they said the reason was because the internal disk drive wasn't working properly. I have a broken internal hard drive right now sitting at my old laptop and am planning to replace it due to it's incapability to run all my files inside.

When installing a new internal hard drive, do I need to buy a new OS or can I retrieve my OS somehow?

Reminder: The laptop was bought back in 2011

All you need is same Windows as you had originally, make install disk/USB with it and install on new HDD. It was probably OEM version so it should activate. The should also be a sticker with registration numbers somewhere on the laptop or possibly under the battery.
