Hello, I made a retro pc with the specs : pentium 4 1400 mhz, 512 mb sdram 133, geforce mx 440 and 30 gb pata hdd and I installed Windows 98 from an original cd. Everything worked fine until the end f the installation. Nothing happened when I tried to press all the icons on the desktop or the start menu... I tried to do anything, but then I installed Windows 2000. Same thing happened but now it gives me an error: Access to the specified device, path or file is denied. Please help

Good to see you used Windows 2000 as well, as it has eventlogs...
Please have a look at the system eventlog, and see, if there are any hints.
btw, the primary culprits are, in this order, RAM, HDD, and motherboard. Beides this strange behaviour on the desktop, do you experience any lockups, or severe delays?
