my gpu got stuck in the pcie slot on my motherboard and i tried to use a screwdriver to put pressure on the release and slipped and the tip hit the top of the m2 slot grazing it a little, would this cause much damage to the slot or is it only cosmetic, also is there much point in getting an m2 ssd. thankyou for reading :D

i guess so, i already have a sata ssd and was just wondering if there would be a substantial increase in performance with the M.2 storage.

M2 drives are great. I got a Samsung 950 Pro about a month ago and it's amazing. I can run things at like 100 times the speed of my laptop's hard drive. The thing about the damage done to your motherboard though I would have to see it in order to figure out if it's usable or not.

going from a sata ssd to the m2 would i see a noticeable improvement, also, its only a small impact on the top of the port and i doubt it did much but i was just wondering if that could mess it up or it would have to be where the ssd makes contact with the port to cause damage. :D

Depends on the SSD. Some drives you would see a huge improvement by going to a 950 Pro. But not all Z97 and Z170 motherboards will support NVMe without a BIOS update.

I guess the only way to test and make sure it works is getting a spare drive and plugging it into the slot.

would it be possible to go to a local computer store and see if they can use a spare drive to test it?
