I was looking through some CPUs and many people suggested the AMD FX 8300. So is an AMD 8 core CUP good for gaming? What else can it do? Should I get it just for gaming? I already have a gtx 780 sc What kind of CPU should I get with this GPU? Lastly, will the FX 83xx bottleneck my GPU?

AMD's processors aren't really worth looking at for gaming anymore unless you either already have a decent AM3+ capable motherboard that can handle the high power draw of the FX CPUs and want a cheap drop-in upgrade, or if you are on an extremely low budget and are looking at $65 CPUs, in which case you could make an argument for the Athlon X4 860k over a Pentium.

If those don't apply for you and you can afford at least a Core i3, then Intel is probably the better option, being on a more modern platform with an upgrade path to a Core i5 or i7 if you need a stronger CPU, while also having more modern features. An FX 8300 is pretty much as good as you're going to get on AM3+, everything better than it is the same CPU just with higher stock clockspeeds and somewhat better overclocking potential, neither of which will make a huge difference for gaming.

Well AMD actually doesn't have 8 core but 4 its just have hyper threading and they consider selling it as an 8 core CPU .it should be good enough but in other stuff wont be as fast as an i5 6400 .also if you are thinking that buying an AMD will cost less ,you are wrong

Ohh I almost forgot AMD am+ socket doesn't support ddr4 memory but i3 i5 and i7 should support both ddr3 and ddr4 memory. Also I want to add that if you had a very strong gpu a very low pentium CPU wouldn't make huge difference in fps between a high end i7 but the load and waiting time for applications will be huge. So I would recommend buying at least an i5
