Ok, Firstly despite looking like this is a post about installation issues with windows, it IS NOT. It's more a problem about a motherboard issue?.

Ok, So I'm in the midst of building a cheap gaming rig. Purchased the final parts, and got a new 1TB HDD (Seagate desktop HDD). I've got a A8-7650k CPU and Gigabyte GA-FM2A68HM-HD2. I am a seasoned PC builder, owning my own high end gaming rig, my partner's gaming pc, 4 laptops etc that I've all installed windows on before etc.

The problems are, Windows 7 installation = sometimes it doesn't even finish the install, other times it has managed to get to the desktop, just to freeze. (Always this issue). I've got a USB 2.0 stick with windows 7 ISO on it, as well as an original windows 7 installation disk. This problem occurs no matter how I install windows.

Also the motherboard has shown me different names for the hdd (E.g.. UEFI - Windows Boot Manager - Sata SM: .... Now i'm aware of these, but my PC has decided to change the fricken name of it so much, im lead to believe it could be a motherboard storage management problem?

More problems - I then attempted windows 10 installation from a USB 3.0 stick. Which... worked... for the most part, until windows froze.. AGAIN and AGAIN... etc.

Same problems as windows 7 really. Now, I've done many things to narrow this down

I've used.. THREE hard drives.. well, 2 and 1 SSD. Even on the SSD it has problems, both HDD's too (and these are all working devices) Bios is set to AHCI mode and it's even the latest bios version.

The only exception is, I installed windows 7 on 1 of my laptops yesterday, and even managed to get it fully updated and upgraded to windows 10 the same day. NO PROBLEMS. Soooo is that motherboard in the gaming pc ruined? Could it be a CPU problem? Anyone ever experienced or heard of a problem like this before? Thanks in advance and sorry for the essay :)
