Details:
I just built a PC for the first time so I am fairly new to this. After I installed all the required parts (Part List provided below) I started up the PC and to my surprise nothing happened. No fans moved, no lights, no sounds etc. I immediately turned off the pc in the back and unplugged it as well. I thought it was faulty parts or I didn't plug in something incorrectly however I read about the paperclip trick and did that on the power connectors and everything turned on and worked properly. I was able to get into bios and install windows 10 via USB.

Issue:
My problem is now that I can only turn on my PC using the paperclip and not the power button on the case. I have read the manual and double-checked the front panel connectors and they all seem to be in the right place. Also the ring on my case around the power button glows when turned on but when i press it nothing happens. I provided pictures also below of the front panel connectors and the front of the case. I'm sorry for writing too much but not sure how much detail I need to provide. I'm really stumped on what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PCPartPicker part list:

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: MSI MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" SSD

Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case

Solution
If correctly connected to the motherboard (important) and not starting the board when pressed, then I'd say that the button is defective.

Shorting the 2 power pins does work. The button on top of the case lights up (like in the pic provided) but it doesn't turn on when pressed. Does this mean it could still be faulty?

If so I will just have to open up a ticket with NZXT to replace it and try that way.

Yeah I've triple checked against the manual and multiple online videos so it's definitely in the right way on the mobo. I'll just have to wait for the new part to come in. Thanks for confirmation!
