Ok so right now I am using a 1TB HDD to run my os and everything else I have installed on my pc. What I need to know is if I get an SSD what will I need to do? I know you have to reinstall windows I have a copy of windows 10 and a key but do I have to reinstall drivers for my graphics card, motherboard etc. I would also keep the 1TB HDD I have now for storage and only put things that I need on the SSD as it would probably only be 120gb. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Solution
If you move windows onto the SSD, you will have to reinstall all the drivers onto the SSD as well to get the system to work. I would personally suggest going with a 250GB SSD as 120GB fills up quickly with windows and a few programs on it.

You would have to do everything you had to do to optimize Windows for your HDD such as install drivers and the like. However, 120GB is a bit small. You need to consider that if a drive exceeds 80% usage then it slows down due to internal capacity restrictions (there's a word for this, I forget what it is). Basically, I agree with Nuckles, I would get a 250GB drive like the Samsung SSD 850 EVO. You would store everything that doesn't need the boost of an SSD on the HDD. For things like photo/video editing programs, keep the program on the SSD but the project and their related files on the HDD.

Thank you for clearing this up for me. I just have one more question, I just built my rig a few weeks ago and at the time didn't have the money for an ssd is it worth reistalling for the ssd or should I wait a little further down the road to do the upgrade?

I don't think you understood my question, I already have the hdd and windows and all my other stuff installed on it. Just wondering if its better to buy the ssd now or wait a while until my computer gets a little sluggish.
