I am upgrading my computer. I have a micro ATX motherboard us3s asrock, a GTX 960, 8gb ram, 520w power supply bronze, and an amd FX-6300 with asetek LCLC cooling.

I am switching to intel and upgrading my PC but it will take a few months.
I am going to eventually get the I5 6600K, 650 G2 supernova power supply, 16 gb DDR4 RAM, GTX 980TI.

With the current setup I have at the moment, will it work if I go ahead and buy the Intel processor and motherboard to put into my setup, and get the other parts later, or should I just get all parts at the same time.

I would like to go ahead and get the processor issue handled and then upgrade my psu then my gpu

Solution
If you meant Power supply then yeah it will be powerful enough. But I strongly recommend a Seasonic X-850 or Seasonic M12II-750W Power supply for your build.

Whats your budget bro? I can give you a better build with same processor but some different components if you can specify your budget. Also going for GTX 980ti will be waste of money as the new NVIDIA Pascal graphic cards are getting released. Also AMD Polaris will laucnh in some time which seems better than Nvidia in my opinion.

NVIDIA facing issues with Async Compute , DX12 even with their newer Pascal GPUs. Until we get confirmed support of DX12 from NVIDIA, I wont recommend anything from NVIDIA.

I am saving up money as I go that is why I said it would take a couple of months so should I go ahead and get certain parts, I really want to switch to Intel because they just seem like better processors, and what should I go for if not 980ti?

ok, but I am probably switching to Intel so if I went ahead and grabbed the processor, mobo, and RAM would my battery be good enough until I get enough for a new battery?

Battery? Battery of what? can you please clarify your statement.

if your cmos battery goes bad the date and time wont hold. it 10.00 for a 2 pack at walmart and take a few min to swap. on parts hold off intel dropping in june newer 200 chipset and kurby lake cpu the next rev of skylake cpu. whe nyou do go shopping see if you have a local micro center so you can do there cpu and mb combo deals.
