I connected a laptop with freshly installed and updated Windows 10 Home x64 (with Device manager not showing any problems) to a SONY STRDN850 AV RECEIVER with a 1.5m HDMI cable and attached speakers and projector (via HDMI) to the receiver. I then had the laptop play music using Windows Media Player while displaying a PowerPoint presentation.
I can hear the music from the laptop speakers and see the Powerpoint on the laptop display, but no sound came from the speakers attached to the receiver, although the Powerpoint was shown on the projector screen.
I then unplugged the HDMI cable from the laptop and put it in the back of a Blu-Ray player and both sound and vision worked fine.
I haven't a clue how you can get video but not sound especially when you get both from a different source. Anyone ?
